  1. Body turns food into energy in three steps i.e digestion, absorption and metabolism.
  2. Average adult human diet should be about 2000 calories a day. Teens and active adults may need up to 2500 calories.
  3. Body needs a lot of nutrients, not just calories. Foods like chocolate cake contain lot of calories but very little nutrients.
  4. Healthy eating means eating a lot of nutritous food.
  5. Six main types of nutrients that body needs are carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals and water.
  6. Healthiest diet is mostly carbohydrates, some proteins and fats.
  7. Body gets energy from carbohydrates, proteins and fats.

Feeding Your Baby
